I’ve never understood live fast and die young mentalities. Mostly because I’ve met a bunch of old people who never stopped living fast.

Why try to die young when you can be an old man at a rave?

The world needs more old women in denim dresses doing shots at the family picnic. You’d deprive us all of that? You’d just let your chaotic personality go to waste? I just can’t wrap my head around that.

You’ve gotta think long term. When I’m a fat old man I’m gonna start wearing a wizard hat and collect vaguely orb shaped paperweights.

Live fast die old surrounded by weird stuff from the experiences that brought you joy

Saddest thing ever is reading an academic paper about a threatened or declining species where you can tell the author is really trying to come up with ways the animal could hypothetically be useful to humans in a desperate attempt to get someone to care. Nobody gives a shit about the animals that “don’t affect” us and it seriously breaks my heart

“No I can’t come out tonight I’m sobbing about this entomologist’s heartfelt plea for someone to care about an endangered moth”

This is how I learn there's a moth whose tiny caterpillars live exclusively off the old shells of dead tortoises.

[Image description: text from a section titled On Being Endangered: An Afterthought that says:

Realizing that a species is imperiled has broad connotations, given that it tells us something about the plight of nature itself. It reminds us of the need to implement conservation measures and to protect the region of which the species is a part. But aside form the broader picture, species have intrinsic worth and are deserving of preservation. Surely an oddity such as C. vicinella cannot simply be allowed to vanish.

We should speak up on behalf of this little moth, not only because by so doing we would bolster conservation efforts now underway in Florida, [highlighting begins] but because we would be calling attention to the existence of a species that is so infinitely worth knowing. [end highlighting]

But is quaintness all that can be said on behalf of this moth? Does this insect not have hidden value beyond its overt appeal? Does not its silk and glue add, potentially, to its worth? Could these products not be unique in ways that could ultimately prove applicable?

I was so inspired by this I made it into a piece of art for a final in one of my courses for storytelling in conservation

A black-and-white two-page spread illustration depicting a quote from Watership Down, with the text overlaid on top of the drawing. Quote reads as follows: "All the world will be your enemy, Prince with a Thousand Enemies, and whenever they catch you, they will kill you. But first they must catch you, digger, listener, runner, prince with the swift warning. Be cunning and full of tricks and your people shall never be destroyed." The drawing depicts a large swarm of rabbits encroaching on one rabbit in the center of the left page, which is silhouetted against a white circle with rays of light emanating off of it. All the rabbits are drawn in white line against the black background. The swarming rabbits have feral, snarling expressions and are all staring at the rabbit in the center. The rabbit in the center is in an alert pose and has wide eyes staring at the reader.ALT

I Have An Etsy Shop!!!

im so excited to announce that ive officially launched an etsy shop to sell petplay/ general BDSM collars 💕

Two super cool things about this shop are 1) you can choose any colors and size you want (no extra charge for plus sizes) and 2) you can add a matching bracelet for either yourself or your partner/ partners !!!

I recently started the whole rigamarole of trying to get top surgery. I'm super fortunate my insurance will cover most of it! But i have a bunch of complicating factors (mainly a blood disorder) that are adding a shitload of appointments and tests to my referral process- basically the cost is stacking up pretty quickly. Im really hoping that this can help me more comfortably afford the gender affirming care that I've been trying to access literally for years.

Beyond that though, I just really wanna try this out and see where it goes! I know I've posted before about my knot tying skills (many puns intended), so hopefully this isn't very surprising to y'all. Right now i can only ship to the US, but we'll see what happens. These designs all use 550 paracord, so trust me it can withstand A Lot. Please check out my shop and if you wouldn't mind reblogging this I'd really appreciate it!
